FAQ for Medical Services

How can medical services help with prenatal care?

While Choices is not a prenatal care provider, the medical services we provide can be a crucial support for prenatal care. We offer pregnancy health services such as pregnancy testing and early-pregnancy ultrasounds to provide accurate information about pregnancy. Additionally, we provide comprehensive information on prenatal development and options available to pregnant individuals. With our confidential and caring approach, we empower individuals to make informed decisions and provide them with the necessary resources.

Do the medical services Choices Pregnancy Center offers for pregnant women include ultrasounds?

Absolutely! Choices Pregnancy Center offers free limited obstetrical ultrasounds as confirmation of pregnancy. A limited obstetric ultrasound is used to determine the location of the pregnancy, the gestational age, and the viability of the pregnancy. This provides valuable information for a mother who is exploring options for her pregnancy. Each ultrasound is performed by a trained medical professional and is read by a physician.

Are your medical services provided by licensed healthcare professionals?

Yes, our medical services are exclusively provided by licensed and certified healthcare professionals who have undergone training and education in their respective fields. We prioritize the highest standards of care and expertise to ensure the well-being and safety of our clients. Our pregnancy testing and ultrasounds are performed by an RN with specialized training in ultrasound; our medical director, who reads our tests and scans, is an MD specializing in obstetrics and family medicine. Rest assured, you can trust our trained and dedicated team to address your needs with care and compassion.

Do I need to have insurance to receive medical services?

Choices Pregnancy Center, with locations in Redwood Falls and Marshall, MN, offers all our services at no charge. So no insurance is required. We provide comprehensive support for individuals facing unexpected pregnancies, including pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, adoption referrals, and post-abortion healing resources. With advocates offering personalized care and a 24-hour hotline, we aim to assist you in making confident decisions.

Is there a cost for medical services at Choices Pregnancy Center?

At Choices Pregnancy Center, we strive to provide accessible medical services to our clients. We offer a free pregnancy test and limited obstetric ultrasounds, as well as comprehensive information on options. Our caring team is dedicated to supporting you in your journey without adding financial burden. You can trust that our services are provided at no cost to you.

How accurate are the pregnancy tests and ultrasounds at your center?

At Choices Pregnancy Center, we use a medical grade urine pregnancy test with a >99% accuracy of detecting the qualitative value of the hCG hormone (as little as 20 mIU/mL), which is a good marker for detecting early pregnancy. Following the pregnancy test, if you meet our ultrasound criteria, our medical staff will perform a limited OB ultrasound that can provide key information on a pregnancy as early as 6 weeks since last menstrual period. The information includes location (if it is inside the uterus), gestational age (how big Baby is), and viability (whether there is a heartbeat). Knowing these medical facts can help a woman determine next steps in her pregnancy.
