Why consider parenting?
Good question. Lots of people wonder that, especially when they weren’t planning to be parents just yet.
What we’ve found over our decades of serving parents like you is that parenting delivers lots of benefits. Let’s look at three.
- Parenting can do you good. Funny thing about us humans: we find it real easy to think only of ourselves. Not so funny thing: adults like that are just big toddlers. Just selfish babies in grown-up clothes. By contrast, parenting gives us an opportunity to grow into wiser, more mature people, good at caring for someone outside ourselves. In parenting, you can learn to design your life so it will be good for both you and your child.
- Parenting can break the mold. Far too many of us grew up with poor parenting role models. Well, now’s your chance to turn all that around. When you get parenting education and support from caring people like the staff at Choices (all parents themselves), you can be the kind of parent the world needs more of. The kind of stellar parent that makes a positive lifetime impact on their child.
- Parenting can enrich the world. Each human being is created for a purpose. Both you and your baby are here to bring good things to your extended family, your community, and the world. By parenting the child you’ve been given, you will give the world not only your own awesome gifts but this new human being’s gifts as well. Think of the impact you could have ten, twenty, fifty years down the road!
That last point surprises some people. We can get so wrapped up in this moment, this pregnancy, that we can’t even imagine how good things can be in the future. Just imagine…

We know that a little help with parenting education and support can make a lifetime of difference in your parenting. That’s why we bundle a whole list of helpful services within our Earn While You Learn program—and all at no charge.
One-on-one, customized, pregnancy and parenting classes equip you to handle the whole journey, from pre-birth through the early years. We have a wide range of streaming classes you can choose from to fit your unique interests and circumstances. (There’s even an option to stream your lesson at home when necessary.)
Personal mentoring goes beyond just teaching you parenting skills. We listen to your questions and concerns and help you discover the answers, so you feel confident raising your child.
Connecting you to additional services in your community is another service we offer to empower you to succeed. You’ll be surprised how many people we know who can help.
We welcome both mothers and fathers to come learn and grow. Whether you expect to parent solo or with a partner, we offer education and support for both moms and dads.
Even if you’ve already given birth, we can help. Our program is open to parents of children pre-born through age three. And if Baby has older siblings, we can help you build those healthy family relationships too.
Practical necessities (like maternity supplies, baby clothes, strollers, and Pack ‘n’ Plays) are available when you cash in the free Baby Bucks you earn while participating in Earn While You Learn classes. You can even earn more Baby Bucks just by doing things out in the community that are good for you and your child. Talk to our advocate about all the possibilities.
