Part of any pregnancy testing appointment at Choices Pregnancy Center in Redwood Falls, MN, and Marshall, MN, is having a safe and quiet space to ask all your questions. You’ll have our caring and professional nurse right there to provide the answers you need.
If your pregnancy test came back positive, you’ll have plenty of time to discuss the pregnancy options available to you. You can also have a free, limited obstetrical ultrasound to provide you with medical facts about your pregnancy. We want you to feel confident making your next decisions based on complete and accurate information, free from outside pressure.
We understand that your life circumstances are unique. And that your pregnancy decisions will affect the rest of your life. So we aim to listen to you carefully and then offer support and guidance as you think through the options and find the one best suited to you and your values.
Parenting as an Option
Determining whether you are ready to parent a child takes time. You’ll want to think through what raising a child will mean for your relationships, your housing, your income, and many other factors. That’s a lot to process. During your appointment, we can help you start picturing what parenting might look like for you.
Most parents rely on support from their friends, family, and community to succeed in raising healthy, happy children. Yet many women facing an unexpected pregnancy start out feeling isolated and unsupported. Talking about this concern during your appointment can help you discover kinds of help you may not yet know about. Your nurse will be happy to give you referrals to the agencies, people, and services that you need.
Most new parents feel nervous about whether they know enough about pregnancy and parenting to do a good job. They also worry they’ll be able to buy all the things a baby needs. Talk to your nurse about what Choices offers. She’ll have information on Earn While You Learn, our free program that gives parents mentoring, personalized education, and free baby and maternity supplies from our Boutique.
Adoption as an Option
Your appointment at Choices is a great time to explore the possibility of adoption as an outcome of your pregnancy. If circumstances make parenting difficult right now, but you want to play a key role in finding your child a good family to enjoy life with, talk to your nurse about how adoption might work for you.
Choices Pregnancy Center is independent of adoption agencies and has no financial interest in adoptions. That allows us to give you accurate and unbiased information about the adoption process and lists of adoption agencies. Ultimately, that choice would be yours to make. And we will be happy to support you throughout the process.
Abortion as an Option
Like any medical procedure, abortion comes with its own risks and unique outcomes that depend on your current health, the status of your pregnancy, the abortion method used, and more. We will take time to ensure that you have the medically accurate information you need to decide whether abortion is the best option for you.
Some women see abortion as a “quick fix.” They may act out of a sense of desperation or due to pressure from others, without considering all their options. Make the most of your time at Choices Pregnancy Center to think through the long-term results of this and other options, free from judgment or coercion.
Support After You Choose an Option
Because Choices Pregnancy Center staff care about you as a whole person (not just a pregnant one) we can also support you after you make that first pregnancy decision.
Even though our view of the value of life prevents us from referring clients to abortion providers, we do offer post-abortion healing services for women who choose that option and need support later.
Ask the nurse about our follow-up support services. We are all about building relationships here—relationships that help you thrive on into the future.
